Retaining Wall
Installation
-
Prepare a base of compacted
sand or gravel for the first layer of blocks making sure this is level
-
Install the first row of 20"
blocks with the front edges tight together. Finish this row with the
proper sized blocks to make it fit.
-
Carefully backfill with sand or
soil around and in between blocks to pack and lock into place.
-
Begin your second row with a
smaller block to stagger the joints and continue the additional rows in this
manner.
-
Check for level often and
backfill as you complete each row.
-
Complete by placing caps on the
entire length of the wall. (Applying adhesives or mortar is recommended
under caps.)
Note: - all blocks are
4" in height, 8" in depth and come in a choice of 2 lengths - 20" and 10"
-20 Bricks:-
Are the standard unit. These will be the most economical so use as many of
these as possible.
Uses:- Straight, and slow curving walls.
-10"blocks:
Uses: -to be used in every second row to offset the joints of the
bricks.
-where
tight curves do not allow the use of 20" blocks. 10" bricks will
allow you to avoid the "hexagon" look in a tight curve.
- A rule of thumb when installing a project with tighter curves, replace
25% of the 20" bricks with 10" bricks. (Remember for every 20" brick you
take out you will replace it with 2 10" bricks.)
-The estimation guide will tell you how many
20" bricks and how many caps you will need for your project.
- Corner blocks are 12" x 8" x 4" high
- ROX caps are
available in 2 lengths: 16" & 10" x 1.5" high
